The Ford Explorer 2011 is ready for the first stage

Here it is, therefore, this famous Explorer. After weeks of waiting to blows fueled unsustainable teaser more explicit one than the others, Ford has unveiled its new all-terrain. If the wait was long (for some) it is now rewarded with a vehicle rather pleasing to the eye and put the spotlight on the technology. But more likely, the newcomer should be less over the category of “real” off-road to fully explore that of SUV. From the point of view of style, no doubt, the new Explorer falls right in line with Fordacross the Atlantic, with the massive grille aluminum framed block optical particular design. A style that should appeal, especially as the style of the car was generously muscled and energized while retaining a general line does certainly not denying those of previous generations. The overall effect is a car modern, athletic, very stamp of a certain lightness. On board, too, marks a real Explorer leap forward in design and layout. Ford also intends to position its new Explorer as an alternative to SUVs that are the premium BMW X5 or Audi Q7, and promises the same token, a flawless finish, which was far from being the case with the models preceded it. Always planned for seven occupants, the interior of the Explorer can become a real ship in a jiffy thanks to its headquarters in third (50/50) and second row (60/40) retractable.
The standard is intended to complete from the ultra-basic version, with, serial start-up assistance in hand, LED taillights, USB / AUX four takes 12 volts, the steering column adjustable in two planes, cruise control, four electric windows, air conditioning and electronic keyless access device. In top-of-the-line Limited (finishing XLT stands between the two), the equipment is enriched by the mood lighting, adjustable pedals with memory, dual-zone air conditioning, leather seating with heated lumbar adjustments, the electrochromic rearview mirror, the rearview camera, a 110 volt socket, command universal garage door and a stereo 12 speakers signed with Sony. In terms of active safety and passive rather than the Explorer is not far behind, the world’s first inflatable safety belts on the second row seats (made some months ago). The new SUV is also equipped with dead-angle sensor, the adaptive cruise control, cross-traffic alert, a system for preventing collisions or of a system of monitoring pressure of tires.
Sharing its platform with the Ford Taurus and Flex and boasting a drag coefficient of 0.36, the Explorer is powered by a block V6 3.5 Ti-VCT 290 hp and 345Nm with fuel consumption reduced by 20% over the previous generation. Coupled motion to a permanent AWD, it may be capable of towing up to 2.2 tonnes. Sign of the times, the SUV with the blue oval can also be ordered with a block four-cylinder EcoBoost 2 liters of 237 horsepower and 338Nm. This would reduce consumption by 30% over the current model, “paralleling the consumption of a sedan as the traditional Toyota Camry V6 (sic)! Directed ‘premium’, the Ford Explorer still retains serious off-road abilities with a system of intelligent management of adjustable four-wheel drive four modes: normal, mud and gravel, sand and snow. Each acting on the throttle response, braking, and torque transmitted.
